Ben Ryan

Ben Ryan is an acclaimed sports coach, famed for his tenure spentcoaching the Fiji Sevens who claimed Gold at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Today, Ben continues to share his prowess as a coach of high performance, currently working as thePerformance Director of Brentford Football Cluband a keynote speaker on winning cultures, collaboration, teamwork and communication. Widely regarded as one of the most successful men’s rugby sevens coaches, Ben uses his experience in elite international sports to make his keynote speeches insightful, dynamic and relevant. Having played club rugby for Nottingham and West Hartlepool teams, Ben began his coaching career as ateacher at St Edward’s School Oxford. Leaving the school after six years of coaching, Ben impressivelyhelped place a player in every team from the U16s to the Senior England International squad from the school.

Later becoming a coach for Newbury Blues and England Counties, Ben caught his big break when he coached his first England Sevens tournament in 2007. Resigning from the position in 2013, Ben finished his tenure as thelongest-serving England Sevens head coach. In 2013, Ben became the coach of Fiji Sevens, and under his watchful eye, the team secured nine World Sevens Series victories and Gold at the 2016 Olympic Games. Aside from his tenures with the England and Fiji Sevens, Ben has also been a Consultant for France Sevens and theTechnical Director of Rugby X. He has also acted as a passionateAmbassador of Play-Ex Sports, Fiji Airways and HSBC, all alongside running his personal consultancy business.

In honour of his decorated career, Ben was appointed the highest order –Companion of the Order of Fiji. He has also been honoured by being depicted on the reverse of a 50-cent coin and a commemorative $7 banknote. He was also named Pacific Person of the Year andshortlisted for World Rugby Coach of the Year. In addition, Ben has also shared his inspirational story in hisbestselling book Sevens Heaven.
