Carmen Reinhart served as World Bank Chief Economist from 2020-2022 and is now Professor of International Finance at Harvard Kennedy School. Her book This Time Is Different: Eight Centuries of Financial Folly, translated into 20+ languages, reshaped how economists think about sovereign debt crises.
Previous roles include Chief Economist at Bear Stearns and Deputy Director at the IMF. She advises the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Congressional Budget Office.
Awards include the King Juan Carlos Prize in Economics and the Adam Smith Award. Reinhart brings rigorous historical analysis to understanding financial crises.
