Mike England MBE is a former Welsh footballplayer and manager. With a playing career that ran from 1959 until 1980 Mike is known as one of thegreatest Welsh players of his generation, as well as being the youngest permanent Wales captain, until recently. Signing his first professional contract aged only fifteen, Blackburn Rovers saw talent in England and he was scouted for the squad.
Playing a total of seven years for the side, he gained the attention of top clubs due to hisskilled performance in defense, and in 1966 he joined Tottenham Hotspurs. Rising to fame during his time at Spurs, England achieved as impressive three domestic titles, including theFA Cup, in addition to theUEFA Home ChampionshipandtheEuropa League. Adored by fans and praised by players, Mike England wasinducted into the Tottenham FCHall of Fameas a club legend.
After nine glorious years, he transferred to Seattle Sounders and moved stateside.
