Paul Hessburg is a research landscape ecologist with the USDA Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station. For over 30 years, he has studied the relationships between forests, wildfires, and human communities in the western United States.
Hessburg's work focuses on designing fire-resilient landscapes that protect people while restoring the ecological role of fire. He has published over 150 scientific papers and book chapters, and his TED Talk on rethinking our approach to wildfires has been viewed over 2 million times.
Hessburg's keynotes provide frameworks for communities to coexist with fire and build a more sustainable future.
