Shivani Siroya is the founder and CEO of TALA, a mobile technology company that is expanding financial access and economic opportunity for millions of underserved people globally. Siroya's journey began when she worked as an independent analyst at the United Nations, where she saw firsthand the challenges people face without access to formal financial services.
She used this experience to create TALA, a platform that leverages alternative data and machine learning to assess creditworthiness and provide small loans to individuals who are 'unbanked' or 'underbanked. ' Under Siroya's leadership, TALA has grown to serve customers across four countries and has disbursed over $1 billion in credit.
Her innovative approach to financial inclusion has been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, and TIME Magazine.
