Where our photos come from

Mezzo builds speaker profiles from public sources. Photos are collected alongside that record, and each one is labelled with the kind of source it came from:

• Conference and event pages - the promotional headshot a speaker supplied to an event that billed them.
• Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia - openly licensed images.
• Speaker-supplied - uploaded by someone who has claimed their own profile.
• Other public web sources - press pages, personal sites and speaker listings.

We do not buy or license stock or wire-agency photography, and we block those sources from entering the site.

How the images are served

Images are delivered through our own content delivery network, which caches and re-encodes a copy rather than loading the file from its original host. We would rather say that plainly than describe it as linking.

If you want a photo removed

You do not need an account, and you do not need to prove anything up front. We remove contested images first and discuss afterwards. Removing a photo does not delete the speaker's profile or their event record.

If you would rather have the whole profile removed, say so in the form and we will treat it as an erasure request instead. Speakers can also find their profile and claim it, which lets them replace the photo with one of their own choosing.
