Yo-Yo Ma is an American cellist who has redefined classical music performance and cultural collaboration on a global scale. Born to Chinese parents in Paris and recognized as a child prodigy, he began studying cello with his father at age four.
His family moved to Boston when he was seven, later relocating to New York City where he continued his musical education at the prestigious Juilliard School before pursuing a liberal arts degree at Harvard University. Throughout his extraordinary career, Ma has performed as a soloist with orchestras worldwide and recorded more than 92 albums, earning 19 Grammy Awards for his artistic achievements.
