Diana Nyad is an American author, journalist, and long-distance swimmer. She is the first person confirmed to have swam from Cuba to Florida without the aid of a shark cage, accomplishing this feat in 2013 at the age of 64.

Nyad has set numerous world records for marathon swimming and has been honored with induction into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
