Narendra Modi is an Indian politician who has served as the Prime Minister of India since 2014, making him the longest-serving prime minister outside the Indian National Congress. Born Narendra Damodardas Modi, he represents Varanasi as a Member of Parliament and is a prominent member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Before ascending to India's highest office, Modi served as Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014, where he gained national recognition for his governance and economic policies. His political career has been marked by his association with right-wing Hindutva ideology through his involvement with RSS, a paramilitary volunteer organization.
