About
Richard Turere is a Kenyan inventor and conservationist who developed a pioneering lion-deterrent system at just 13 years old. Growing up on the edge of a wildlife reserve, Turere saw firsthand how conflict between lions and local herders was harming both communities.
He applied his technical skills to create a lighting system that keeps lions away from livestock without harming the animals. Turere's innovation has been recognized worldwide, including a 2013 TED Talk that has over 2 million views.
His keynotes inspire young audiences to apply their creativity to solve real-world problems and coexist with nature.
