Dr. Robert Ballard transformed underwater exploration by discovering the wreckage of the TITANIC in 1985, capturing global imagination. A pioneering marine archaeologist and oceanographer, he has tracked down numerous historically significant shipwrecks including the German battleship BISMARCK, the lost fleet of Guadalcanal, the U.
S. aircraft carrier YORKTOWN, and President John F. Kennedy's PT-109.
His groundbreaking deep-sea expeditions have not only revealed hidden maritime histories but have also advanced our understanding of oceanic research and technological underwater exploration strategies.
