How much of you is actually you?

In this talk, the speaker tries to address this fundamental question: How do we define ourselves when we are provided with so many things? By comparison to the making of cake, the speaker argues: "What are the ingredients that we use to figure out some of the things about ourselves - our beliefs, our hopes, our tastes — and how we discover that those ingredients are passed on to us from the ways that we were raised by our families or by the culture we are living in today, or by the overwhelming number of algorithms on social media sites? Well, the answer is not in the ingredients themselves. It is in the choice we make to think independently and add the flavor we want." A current G11 student in Minhang Crosspoint Academy.
