Tim Cook is the CEO of Apple and serves on its board of directors, having been named to the role in August 2011. Before becoming CEO, he served as Apple's chief operating officer, overseeing all worldwide sales and operations, including comprehensive management of Apple's supply chain, sales activities, and service and support across all markets. He also led Apple's Macintosh division and was instrumental in developing strategic relationships with resellers and suppliers, ensuring the company could respond flexibly to marketplace demands.
Prior to Apple, Cook built extensive operational expertise across major technology companies. He served as vice president of Corporate Materials at Compaq, managing product inventory procurement, and was chief operating officer of the Reseller Division at Intelligent Electronics. His career foundation was built during 12 years at IBM, where he most recently served as director of North American Fulfillment, leading manufacturing and distribution functions for IBM's Personal Computer Company across North and Latin America.
Cook earned an MBA from Duke University as a Fuqua Scholar and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University.
